You do not need to buy waterproof spray immediately because the built-in GORE-TEX membrane of the Harkila Pro Hunter Boots ensures they are completely waterproof out of the box. However, using a spray won't hurt. Over time, it helps protect the outer fabric from absorbing water and maintains the boot’s breathability.
