Arguably the Tilley straw hats have the stiffest brim, but if you are looking for one of Tilley’s classic style cotton hats there are a few other options. When it comes to brimmed hats, the larger the brim, the more likely it will bend and fly up on windy days. The best option is to go for a smaller brim. Waxed cotton adds an extra level of stiffness to the brim, although we would still recommend a smaller brim. Our favourite non waxed Tilley hat is the LTM5 Airflo hat. It has a 2 5/8 inches or 6.66cm brim which is slightly smaller than the waxed cotton TWC7 Outback hat which has a brim of 2 3/4 inches or 6.98cm.
